Unique Pittsburgh Engagement Photos at Allegheny Cemetery

When Tori reached out to me for Pittsburgh engagement photos, she made one thing very clear: She’s not your typical bride, and she didn’t want the same old engagement photos. I had the perfect solution. Since Tori loves all things Halloween, I suggested we meet up for photos at Allegheny Cemetery. The unique photos fit the Victorian Gothic aesthetic they want to create for their wedding.

Taking Unique Pittsburgh Engagement Photos

The Allegheny Cemetery obviously has a lot of features you don’t typically see in engagement photos. Family mausoleums and larger buildings add cool lines and shapes to these photos. They gave us a chance to mix up posing and backdrops a lot more than more conventional parks.

Photographing Tori and Ryan was so much fun! They are genuinely silly, goofy humans. We spent so much of the session cracking up. Ryan makes Tori laugh so easily, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to see her smile. I loved documenting that part of their relationship in these engagement photos.

Getting Creative and Having Fun in Allegheny Cemetery

Tori and Ryan find aesthetic inspiration in vintage photography. You can see that - and Tori’s love of Halloween - in their style. It fits seamlessly into the setting of Allegheny Cemetery. Both of their looks have an effortlessly cool romance to them.

This cemetery is just as much for the living as it is for the dead, and it’s one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh. It’s full of fearless deer grazing on the hills and in the valleys. The mausoleums remind me of New Orleans, too. You’ll see people having picnics, enjoying a walk, or having their first dates. Ryan and Tori’s Pittsburgh engagement photos fit right into all the life happening.
